Měření emisí zápachu a tuhých znečišťujících látek z intenzivního chovu drůbeže

As agricultural production grows, the focus is on improving air quality, which affects not only residents around farms, but also climate change on a global scale. This thesis deals with the measurement of particulate pollutants and odor emissions in intensive poultry farming. The measurements were carried out at the Farma U Lesa in Sudoměřice u Bechyně in the spring and autumn of 2018. The production specific emission of odorous substances into the air was evaluated using dynamic olfactometry according to ČSN EN 13 725, which ranged from 0.01 to 0 according to the fattening cycle phase, 3 OUE. Ks-1. s-1. Compared to the BREF reference document, which lists emission odor values from 0.032 to 0.7 OUE. Ks-1. s-1 the measured values on the farm Mr. Šonky came out very low. Dust particles of PM10 fraction were measured according to the ČSN EN 12 341 methodology for the measurement of dust particles and the production specific emission of PM10 particles was found, which during the whole fattening cycle was measured to a maximum of 0.0025 kg. Ks-1.year-1. The measurement results were compared with the BREF reference document, where the maximum permissible production of solid pollutants of this fraction from 0.004 to 0.025 kg. Ks-1.year-1. In comparing the measured dust emission values with the BREF, the production of harmful emissions was very low.

The increasing agricultural production goes hand in hand with an increasing emphasis on the improvement of air quality, which affects not only the residents living in the close vicinity of farms, but also the world-wide climate change. The presented research focuses on the measurement of odour emissions with regard to the pig agricultural production of the Ponědraž s.r.o. company and their farm Ponědrážka. The measurement of emissions was carried out in the pre-fattening facility as well as in the farrowing house. The dynamic olfactometry served as a tool to determine the emission flow of odorous substances in the air and the detected values were compared with the BREF reference document. The determination of odour concentration with the use of dynamic olfactometry was conducted in accordance with the ČSN EN 13725 standard and the comparison with BREF revealed that the odour concentration values were considerably low.

Odour nuisance assessment in the CR

The aim of this work is to monitor the issue of odorous substances in the Czech Republic. In most cases, the main source of information are studies prepared at the request of the municipal or city authorities. Individual areas affected with this problem, those that I focused on in this work, were selected according to numbers of inducements and complaints from local residents. The introduction of the theoretical part deals with the anatomy of the olfactory system and the reaction of brain perceptions on odour stimulus. Furthermore, I describe the possibilities of measuring odours. Due to low concentrations of odours the least used method is gas chromatography; another option is olfactometry, which is based on the principle of mixing pre-determined concentration of an odorant with neutral gas. In the studies that are the main source of this work, I used the method of questionnaires that are consisted of evaluations of the smell from the locals. Moreover, I also described the procedure of filing in complaints about odours in the neighborhood of residence and its support in the law. The core of the practical part are the complaints of people that were submitted to the Czech Environmental Inspectorate for the years 2006 to 2009.
